Competency-based Learning

Competency-based learning is a personalized instructional approach in which students progress by demonstrating mastery of clearly defined and communicated skills and knowledge, rather than by seat time. It often “requires a deep redesign of the culture and structure of school systems to support effective instruction and learning” (Aurora Institute).
