The Hinsdale School District has hired Anna Roth as the next principal of Hinsdale Middle High School. Roth, the current principal at Twin Valley Middle High School in Whitingham, VT, will replace current HMHS principal John Barth who announced that he is leaving at the end of this school year. Roth assumes the post on July 1.
“I am very excited to begin working with our students, staff members, and families in Hinsdale to help students reach their full potential,” said Roth. “The interview process really helped me get to know the school community’s focus and aspirations, and my experience leading a small, rural middle high school in Vermont just perfectly fit the description of what they are looking for. It is an exciting time in Hinsdale and I am looking forward to contributing as a leadership team member. I am proud to be a Pacer!”
Roth has been serving in the Twin Valley Unified Union School District since 2013 when she was hired as a special educator at the elementary school before moving to the middle high school in the same capacity. In the fall of 2019, Roth was named Dean of Student Support Systems before being tapped mid-year to move into the principal role where she has remained since. Prior to Twin Valley, she worked in special education support roles as well as in the mental health services field, including volunteering for child services programs.
“Ms. Roth is a dedicated educator who continues to demonstrate exceptional growth and development in this profession,” shared Hinsdale Superintendent David Ryan. “We are especially impressed by her reflective approach to her own learning, and how she uses experiences to build better pathways and opportunities for students. Our site visit at her school provided abundant evidence of this practice, and we think our students and staff members are going to benefit greatly from Ms. Roth’s leadership.”
Roth was selected from a pool of five candidates after a series of interviews with multiple stakeholders including the school board, a full day visit at Hinsdale Middle High School, and a half day site visit from Hinsdale representatives. Hinsdale also conducted the elementary principal search process in identical fashion which yielded the hiring of Dr. Molly Bremner.
“Our interview process was designed to be pretty grueling over a period of two and a half months and involved over 80 individual stakeholders,” explained Ryan. “We wanted as much input as possible from the school community and to leave no stone unturned, so we solicited written feedback from every person who had the chance to interact with the candidates. We are very pleased with the outcome, and we are excited about the future of the Hinsdale School District.”
