A. Ways to Communicate


If you have not given the school your email, please email

  • Per the State Department of Education, we are asking parents to call in or email: For HMHS use and for HES use if your son or daughter is sick on remote learning days and unable to engage in their schoolwork. This needs to be done only if your child is sick and not able to do school work.

B. District News and Updates


 

  • The summer meal program will continue to be available through August 14, 2020. The schedule will be slightly different. Pick up will only be at the Hinsdale Middle High School, the days and hours will stay the same from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There will be no weekend meals after June 26. There will be no meals for Friday, July 3, as we will all be celebrating the 4th of July! If you have signed up for meals and no longer need them or if you would like to be added please email so we can keep an accurate meal count.
  • If you would like to register your child for pre-school or kindergarten please call 336-5332, leave a message if needed, with name address and phone number and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • We understand that you all would like questions answered concerning the start of school next year. We have a Back-to-School Task Force that is working on that. They are waiting for information from Governor Sununu’s task force, but know that we are in the process to develop several scenarios concerning re-opening school in the fall. We need your input, please email with your thoughts and suggestions.

  • The Education Commissioner has a survey he would like all parents to complete, it is listed in the email to parents if you do not get an email please go to New Hampshire School Transition Reopening and Redesign Taskforce Survey​ The survey is open until 8:00 pm on May 29th and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. This survey is concerning how you feel about opening school in September.
  • Grades will close for all students on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 4:00 pm. For the middle/high School if an “incomplete” is assigned students will have opportunities going forward to complete course work. More information will be mailed with report cards.
  • All school equipment such as laptops, laptop chargers, books, uniforms, calculators, etc. must be returned to the school next week. The times for drop-offs will be as follows. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. You will receive a receipt for the items you drop off. Drop-offs will be at both gyms.

  • Just a few updates, the pickup for your child’s belongings have been extended to this week. We will have two pickup times. Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Thursday, May 21, 2020, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Elementary students pick up is at the elementary school gym, Hinsdale Middle High School students pick up at the middle-high school gym. This is the last opportunity to pick up belongings, items will be disposed of after this week.
  • We will have information for next week regarding the drop off of your student’s school belongings such as laptops, books, etc.
  • There will be no lunches available on Monday, May 25, 2020, as we all will be celebrating Memorial Day! The next lunch pick-up will be Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Lunches will continue on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until June 30, 2020. We will have information concerning summer lunches at some point in June.
  • A reminder that student work can be dropped off in the lockbox located outside the main door of the Hinsdale Middle High School.   • Friday, May 15, we will be conducting a telephone survey, this will be sent out at 7:00 pm. It will consist of seven questions, it is very important that all questions are answered to the best of your ability. This survey is concerning technology and what the needs are of our families. In order for us to be able to provide for our families going forward, it is vital that you complete the survey.

  • As you know, the school year will end for the students on Friday, May 29, 2020. We are working on a plan to have items returned to the school, such as books, laptops, and uniforms. We will have more information concerning that next week.
  • The gyms still have a lot of items left to be picked up, a reminder to do this tomorrow, Friday, May 15, from 7:00 am to Noon. Elementary school students, please go to the elementary gym, middle/high school students to the middle/high school gym.
  • Meals are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7:00 to 11:00 at the Hinsdale Middle High School and the North Hinsdale Community Church from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. These meals will be available until June 30, 2020. Just because your student’s school work ends does not mean the meals program ends! We will have future information concerning summer meals when the plan has been developed. If you need meals for your children under 18 please take advantage of this offer.

  • Last night in an emergency School Board meeting the Board decided to move for this year only that we will use an hours-based calendar instead of days. What this will mean, is the end of school for students will be on May 29, 2020. We will not have a PD day on Friday, May 22, it will be a regular class day. We will be all celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, May 25 so no school for anyone on that Monday. – Added 5/8/2020Starting May 11, 2020, your child’s belongings will be available for pick up, middle-high school students please go the middle-high school gym and the elementary students’ items can be picked up at the multi-purpose room and for you that don’t know where that room is it is the Hinsdale Elementary School Gym. Pick up times will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. Please try to pick up your student’s belongings next week.
  • We are continually adding information to this portion of our website, please check back often for more information.
  • We will not be serving meals on Monday, May 25, 2020, in observance of Memorial Day. Meals will be available on Wednesday the 27th and Friday the 29th of that week.
  • We will be sending a survey out to all families sometime next week. This survey is concerning internet access, we will need to have this data moving forward so we can better serve all our families, please make sure to answer all questions.
  • We know there are so many questions that you would like the answers to such as the end of the year plans, what about summer school, the beginning of school next year and as always we will keep you informed of all of these issues as soon as we have worked everything out.
  • We would like to thank the Hinsdale PTA and PTSA for the wonderful videos that were done for Teacher Appreciation Week, they brought more than one tear to many of us.

Just come down to the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro between 9 am – 12 pm for sausage and cheese egg sandwiches made fresh with local eggs and sausage. To honor the social distancing details you’ll place your order at the drive-up order area and then drive up to the pick-up station. Socially distanced walk-ups are welcome also. Sausage donation and catering by CherryRail Farm with additional donations and support from Pete and Gerry’s Eggs, Against the Grain, Brown and Roberts, Leader Home Center, and Wendy’s.     There have been many questions regarding when you will be able to pick up students’ belongings. Our custodian staff is working diligently to clean out lockers and desks. Everything will be put into a plastic bag and labeled with your student’s name. This task should complete by the end of this week. We will be updating you on Friday with more information. – Added 4/30/2020

    Thank you for all you are doing in these uncertain times. Reminder student work can be dropped off to the lock box at the Hinsdale Middle High School. Meals are available for pick up on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you can just show up and your name will be added to the list.

    • Today Governor Sununu announced that all schools will be doing remote learning until the end of the school year. We understand the anxiety that this will bring to you, your students, and the staff. We will continue with the Phase II plan at this time. We would like everyone next week just to relax and enjoy your families. Hopefully, it will be nice enough to work outside, we will all have the best-looking yards this year because we have the time!
    • Reminder we will all be on vacation next week, meals will be available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Hinsdale Middle High School and from 7:00 to 10:00 am at the Hinsdale Community Church, special thanks to our food warriors! If your circumstances change please let us know and we will be happy to provide meals, just come to one of the sites and your name will be added to the list.
    • We are still looking for masks for our food warriors, if anyone has some they can be dropped off in the lockbox.

      We are going to address a safety concern for families and our staff and just a few updates.

    • Please stay in your car when you are picking up meals at the pickup sites. Please pop your trunk or storage and our staff will put in the meals. Please do not get out of your car, please do not expect staff to put the meals into a back seat where your children at seated, we are trying to keep everyone safe.
    • Hinsdale Elementary packet drop off is ending today Tuesday, April 14, you can drop at the lockbox located at the Hinsdale Middle High School.
    • Lunches will be available during vacation next week at Hinsdale Middle High School-Gym 7:00 am to 11:00 am and The North Hinsdale Community Church, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, on Monday Wednesday and Friday.
    • The schools will be closed from April 20 to 25, all offices will be closed.
    • We will keep updating you on information concerning the rest of the school year as soon as we know and develop a plan moving forward.

  • The Hinsdale School Board last night decided that the School District will still have an April vacation! So from April 20 to 25, you will have no school work to do, unless you want to. Take this time to make a few memories, we would love it if you send us your pictures, just email and we may share them on social media.
  • We will be having breakfast and lunch pick up during vacation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Middle High School Gym from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and at the North Hinsdale Community Church from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
  • The lockbox for dropping off your student’s work has been set up at the Hinsdale Middle High School right outside the main doors. This can be used for both schools if you are unable to drop off during school office hours which at this time is from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • We have completed the report card process at HMHS and the grades are ready to view on PowerSchool for quarter 3, the Hinsdale Elementary School reports card will be in the mail this week.
  • We have added several documents to our COVID-19 website that you may find helpful. Please check this out we will be adding new information to this site as we receive things that we feel you may be interested in. Section E below has some new links.

  • As many of you may have heard Governor Sununu has extended remote learning through May 4th. We know you all will have many questions and we will answer them as soon as we can. We are all getting this information at the same time, staff and parents. Our staff will be working next week, to institute phase two of the remote learning plan. We will have another message to you as soon as that plan is complete. We do not anticipate that happening until later in the week. If you have any questions concerning your child’s current remote learning plan, please email your teacher. If you have any questions regarding any other issues please email .   • April 8, 2020, is the date we will store quarter three grades and within a day or two, we will have final grades ready for quarter three for parents to view in PowerSchool for grades 6-12 and for the report cards to be printed for grades K-5. We will notify you via social media and our website when this process has been finalized. This schedule matches our schedule for grade distribution for quarter three.
  • With the closure of local libraries, there are still lots of ways for your children to continue reading. Please go to Mrs. Dow’s teacher website on the Hinsdale Elementary School webpage under the Parents Tab or to the Library Tab on the Middle/High School webpage for links to free audiobooks and read-alouds.   • Reminder to all students and parents please refer to your teacher’s websites regularly for assignments and check your student emails for messages.
  • Please check your specials teachers they are teaching from their teacher websites, specials include PE, Music, Art, health, etc.
  • Please connect with classroom teachers frequently they are more than willing to help you with any problems that you are facing, we do ask though to be conscientious of their time, some are in the same situation as you are, helping their children with assignments etc. We ask you and your students to respect their” office hours” if they have provided them.
  • This is obviously a unique and possibly one and only time when we find ourselves with that extra time to be with our children. Read with them. Have them read to you. Tell stories that they could illustrate or draw a picture and have them tell the story.

Our teachers and support staff have been working to connect with our families, please email your child’s teacher if you have any concerns regarding remote learning. Next week our support staff will be working to contact each student that we have not heard from, please expect their call, we need your communication to help us with our personalized learning approach.   • 1. Daily activities from HASP will be available to students on HASP’s new web page (elementary school site) beginning Monday, April 6th.
  • 2. HASP will also continue to provide homework support to middle school students through Teams in Office365, Monday through Thursday (2:45 pm to 4:00 pm). Any middle school student is welcome to join this team. Parents may check the email sent on Monday, March 23rd for details
    regarding this opportunity for your children.
  • 3. HES will have their own drop off for students’ work starting on April 6, 2020 hours will be 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, at HES.
